 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HEIRSPAC and National Action Network File Ballot Initiative to Strengthen Police Transparency and Accountability in Inglewood “Bryan Bostic Police Transparency and Accountability Act” Seeks Body Cameras, Faster Footage Release, and Civilian Oversight INGLEWOOD, CA — June 18, 2026 — HEIRSPAC (Helping Empowered Individuals Reach Success PAC), in partnership with the National Action Network today announced the official filing of two companion ballot initiatives in the City of Inglewood titled: “The Inglewood Police Commission Authority and Accountability Amendment and the Bryan Bostic Police Transparency and Accountability Act.” These companion measures are set up to ensure accountability and transparency in the City of Inglewood. The Inglewood Police Commission Authority and Accountability initiative would amend the City Charter to establish independent civilian oversight of the Inglewood Police Department through a Police Commission vested with authority to appoint, evaluate, and remove the Chief of Police and to provide robust oversight of police operations, misconduct investigations, use-of-force incidents, and public accountability. It’s companion initiative is named in honor of Bryan Bostic, an unarmed man who died while in police custody, and seeks to codify body cameras and the timeliness of the release establish stronger transparency, accountability, and community oversight within the Inglewood Police Department. The initiative was filed with the City Clerk at 8 am Thursday, June 18, 2026 and will begin the formal process to qualify for the November 2026 ballot. Community-Centered Reform The initiatives are backed by a growing coalition of community leaders, faith-based organizations, and civil rights advocates calling for reforms that protect residents and center accountability. Next Steps Following filing, the City Attorney will prepare an official title and summary. Supporters will then begin gathering signatures from Inglewood voters to qualify the measure for the ballot. Organizers estimate that approximately 10,000 signatures will be needed to secure placement on the November 2026 ballot.
